QuickBooks Connect 2016 Speaker Profiles

Whether you are an accounting professional or a small business entrepreneur, you will not want to miss QuickBooks Connect 2016. Happening in San Jose, California, from October 24th – 26th, this event will provide a unique opportunity for accountants, developers, self-employed individuals and entrepreneurs to connect in one place to learn and grow together.

Here is a recap of QuickBooks Connect 2015:

In addition to learning how to better utilize QuickBooks products, several featured guests will speak at this year’s event. From Eva Longoria to Shaquille O’Neal, these leaders are ready to offer you practical advice to help your business move in a positive direction.

Here are five featured speakers you won’t want to miss at QuickBooks Connect 2016:

1. Eva Longoria

In addition to being a Golden Globe-nominated and Screen Actors Guild-winning actress, Eva Longoria has become an advocate for women, the Latino community and youth with special needs. Through her establishment of The Eva Longoria Foundation, she has empowered Latinas to build better lives by means of education and entrepreneurship. She has also co-founded Eva’s Heroes, which seeks to enrich the lives of individuals living with intellectual special needs.

Interesting Fact: Before becoming a well-known actress, Eva Longoria received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

2. Michael Phelps

On top of being named the number one Olympic athlete of the decade, Phelps has started the Michael Phelps Foundation, seeking to encourage kids to have healthy and active lives. He also founded the Michael Phelps Swim School aiming to build confidence and comfort while in the water for all ages and abilities. Due to his dedication to young people, Phelps has been honored as a Boys & Girls Clubs of America Champion of Youth.

Interesting Fact: In 2004, his hometown of Baltimore renamed a street after him called The Michael Phelps Way.

3. Simone Biles

With 19 Olympic and World Championship medals, Simone Biles is the most decorated American gymnast. Biles has proven to be one of the most powerful gymnasts in the industry, despite her young age. She is well-known for bringing lightheartedness to competitions as well overcoming difficulties during her younger years. During the 2016 Olympics, she took home gold medals for the women’s individual and team all-around events, the floor exercise and vault.

Interesting Fact: Out of all 555 U.S. Olympic athletes in Rio, Simone Biles was the shortest, at 4-feet-9-inches.

4. Tony Hawk

Viewed as one of the most influential and successful skateboarders, Tony Hawk is also an actor and owner of the skateboard company Birdhouse. His philanthropic efforts have included the creation of the Tony Hawk Foundation and has given away more than $3.4 million to build more than 400 skate parks. The Foundation also helps underprivileged children and those in low-income areas.

Interesting Fact: For more than 10 years, Tony Hawk has used QuickBooks for his business needs. No wonder QuickBooks asked him to speak this year!

5. Shaquille O’Neal

Best known for his NBA career spanning nearly two decades, Shaquille O’Neal has earned several sports honors including membership into the NBA Hall of Fame and 15-time NBA All-Star. He was also named one of the most influential athletes by Forbes magazine. Since his retirement from the NBA, O’Neal has distinguished himself as an influential media personality and businessman. Currently, he is an NBA analyst for the TNT show ‘Inside the NBA’ and was an early investor in companies such as Google. Today he manages his personal brand that has consisted of TV shows, a shoe line and various tech products.

Interesting Fact: Shaquille O’Neal earned a doctoral degree in education from Barry University.
